Mixing Is Complete – Finally Print E-mail

I spent a very big day in the studio yesterday finalising the mix and I’m happy to announce that the mixing process is over.  To make sure that it really is 100% over I packaged up the pre-master CD and put it in the mail to Fox Audio Mastering this morning.  Yesterdays effort was more about listening and making small adjustments rather than major mixing changes.  Nothing was altered drastically, however I was able tighten up a few loose ends and make a few minor level changes.

All the tracks were then bounced down to a single stereo wave files ready for mastering.  I double checked all tracks for consistency and errors and everything seems to be perfect.

As I stated in my last update Mastering is booked for Monday the 8th of October so the CD should arrive with plenty of time to spare.

Over the weekend I was also able to spend some time on the new Mech Org website.  The new site should be ready to launch around the same time the CD is mastered.   Everything seems to be coming together.

Recording/Mixing

Just when I thought my part of the recording process was nearing completion I'm back in the studio tracking guitar.  Well, distorted bass guitar to be precise.  Connie D (Spasticator) will not be working with me on this recording due to other band commitments which leaves me with no alternative but to track the heavy guitar parts myself.  As a result I've now decided to take this recording in a different direction and use distorted bass for the heavy riffing/chugging.  I spent the weekend recording and I managed to complete two songs.  They sound absolutely enormous.  When I first thought of doing this I had no idea how it would sound.  I began jamming along with the songs and soon discover that the heavy distorted bass really worked perfectly with the existing music.  It took a while to get my palm muting under control but now that I've perfected that the music is devastatingly deep and heavy.  I'm so excited about this new facet to Mech Org and I'm really looking forward to future recordings using the same technique.
